Hey, We’re Louisville Girls Leadership!

Louisville Girls Leadership (LGL) is a group of girls from high schools all across Jefferson County. Participants in the program have notable recognition for their leadership abilities from teachers, community leaders, and others. Juniors and Seniors who have completed the fellowship program have an opportunity to be members of the Steering Committee. Steering Committee members help build the curriculum, facilitate meetings, and make sure we have fun while becoming Louisville’s youngest change agents.

Through the months of October to May, our students lead and attend monthly sessions to develop their leadership skills. Each month there is a different focus area, allowing participants to focus on certain aspects of leadership individually, so they can broaden their knowledge of current events and women's issues. LGL hosts overnights and other bonding activities throughout the year to allowing girls to build strong relationships with one another so they can work together and better their community.

Our core values are…

CELEBRATE EACH OTHER

We acknowledge the greatness in each and every girl. We seek mentorship, friendship, and meaningful connections from each other.

HONOR DIVERSITY

We recognize that there is value in difference and always focus on acceptance, not judgment.

SEEK WISDOM

We value our collective knowledge and experiences and look to our peers to expand our worldview.

COMMUNE WITH COMPASSION

We respect the safe environment that is created when we meet. We are understanding and thoughtful in our words and actions.

A legacy of leadership…

Louisville Girls Leadership began in 1997 through a steering committee with the United Nations 4th World Conference to fulfill a mission to “develop leadership and promote self-esteem in girls and young women.”

Through the many programs that LGL has offered over the years, we were have helped hundreds of girls become the best versions of themselves.

If you know of a sophomore, junior, or senior high school girl who possesses leadership potential or wants to improve, feel free to nominate them below.
